Chapter Philanthropy

SUPPORTING HOMELESS YOUTH AND CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE

As a chapter, we work closely with national and local organizations that provide for youth experiencing homelessness or living in the foster care system. Our efforts encompass everything from volunteering at shelters to packaging supplies to fundraising for relief campaigns.

COVID RELIEF PROJECTS

In the past two years, our sisters have gone above and beyond in their efforts to provide Covid relief. Anna, a recent 2021 Alpha Xi Delta alumna, created the Touch device to help slow the spread of COVID-19 to help users avoid touching their face. By alerting users to this behavior, the spread of the virus could be reduced. Sisters Danielle and Keturah prototyped an app called “Supply Spy” which monitors in real time what stores have the items you need in order to ensure that you’re only visiting one store to get what you need, instead of going to many different stores in search of an item, so its purpose is to reduce transmission rates. Alpha Xi Delta also has several EMTs, like Georgia and Sophia, who work alongside healthcare professionals.

STEP IT UP 5K

Every fall, we organize a campus-wide 5K race to bring together the Georgia Tech community and promote the Kindly Hearts Initiative. Every sister sells tickets in order to raise money for homeless youth and children in foster care, ensuring that everyone on campus has the opportunity to get involved. With baked goods, coffee, and Chick-Fil-A on the morning of the race, the 5K is one our favorite philanthropic events of the year.

“Xiti” With the Xis & Nacho FrenXi

“Xiti” with the Xis and Nacho Frenxi are super energetic and fun events that Alpha Xi Delta hosts at the house to fundraise for our philanthropic focus! Sisters cook baked ziti or create a nacho bar, raise awareness for children in foster care or youth experiencing homelessness, decorate the house, and invite friends and family to come enjoy a delicious dinner. Xiti and Nacho Frenxi are Alpha Xi favorites - two traditions we are excited to continue!

Sisters and Service

Outside of our chapter philanthropy, sisters are also very passionate about being involved in service efforts on campus and in the surrounding Atlanta community. We have many sisters leading and participating in organizations such as Relay for Life, For the Kids, Sting Hunger, Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Humane Society and many more. Every semester we partner up with other greek organizations on campus to give back to our community and philanthropies, giving us the chance to support each other's causes and share our mutual passion for service.
