Alpha Xi Delta’s Philanthropic Focus
The Kindly Hearts Initiative
The Kindly Hearts Initiative serves as the umbrella to our national philanthropic focus of supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. Alpha Xi Deltas across the country support two Key Impact Organizations, FosterClub and StandUp for Kids, making a national and regional difference under the umbrella of our focus.
Letters of Love
All Alpha Xi Delta chapters and alumnae associations participate in Letters of Love, Alpha Xi Delta’s national letter writing fundraising campaign. Held annually during the month of November this campaign benefits Alpha Xi Delta’s two Key Impact Organizations, StandUp for Kids and FosterClub.
Our Chapter's Impact:
SUPPORTING HOMELESS YOUTH AND CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE
As a chapter, we work closely with national and local organizations that provide for youth experiencing homelessness or living in the foster care system. Our efforts encompass everything from volunteering at shelters to packaging supplies to fundraising for relief campaigns.
STEP IT UP 5K
Every fall, we organize a campus-wide 5K race to bring together the Georgia Tech community and promote the Kindly Hearts Initiative. Every sister sells tickets in order to raise money for homeless youth and children in foster care, ensuring that everyone on campus has the opportunity to get involved. With baked goods, coffee, and Chick-Fil-A on the morning of the race, the 5K is one our favorite philanthropic events of the year.
XITI WITH THE XI'S and GLIXIS WITH THE XI'S
“Xiti” with the Xis and "Glixi's" with the Xi's are super energetic and fun events that Alpha Xi Delta hosts at the house to fundraise for our philanthropic focus! Sisters cook baked ziti or cook hot dogs to raise awareness for children in foster care or youth experiencing homelessness, decorate the house, and invite friends and family to come enjoy a delicious dinner. Xiti and Glixis are Alpha Xi favorites - two traditions we are excited to continue!
Sisters and Service
Outside of our chapter philanthropy, sisters are also very passionate about being involved in service efforts on campus and in the surrounding Atlanta community. We have many sisters leading and participating in organizations such as Relay for Life, For the Kids, Sting Hunger, Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Humane Society and many more. Every semester we partner up with other greek organizations on campus to give back to our community and philanthropies, giving us the chance to support each other's causes and share our mutual passion for service.
Additional Philanthropic Events
Additional events we coordinate throughout the semester may involve group and individual service project opportunities, donation drives, profit share nights at local restaurants, food fundraising events and more! Follow us on social media to see event announcements and information.
